"The way forward for our species in an age of collapse is to collectively awaken to mythic imagination. A new story is emerging, so are new ways of perceiving and belonging. We must reimagine the role of the ancient myths and stories, including the religious symbols we have inherited from our deep past... This new story will not be discontinuous with the past, but must involve a remembering of the powers that have birthed and shaped the more-than-human world throughout its great epochs and cycles of transformation... Underneath the great religious traditions and myths of the world grows an imaginal root-system older than humanity, a substrate of animate intelligence—the ground of emergence of our species in an unfolding reciprocity with a truly inexhaustible planetary imagination...
"Hyphal threads of this primordial and indestructible livingness that the ancient Greeks called zoe and the Aramaic speaking mystics called ruha, weave through our great religious traditions in the form of embodied images, or archetypes, hidden in stories and expressed in rituals... the Christ is a primordial symbol of a deeper mythic imagination.

Drink from the deep well of myth and mystery
Our world has been unraveling in a catastrophic loss of meaning, mythic imagination, and ritual embodiment that once oriented human communities within a living cosmos. Imagination is undoubtedly the most vital resource for our times, not simply the ingenuity of the ego, but rather the deep structures of the mythic imagination from where the prophets, priestesses, shamans, and visionaries experienced the world and brought initiatory gifts for their people. In short, mythic imagination is the source or wellspring for cultural regeneration.

Discover Wild, Animate Realms of Possibility
"Myth is a wild and animate mode of expression. It moves like an animal, embodying a glimmer of the deep imaginal world in its eyes... The ‘imaginal’ encompasses the evolutionary processes of embodiment, including our uniquely human forward-seeing visionary capacities. These capacities enable us to anticipate and co-create possible futures... Myth traces specific patterns of meaning deep in the contours of the world. At the water’s edge of creative emergence—where the gods come to drink—the semi-wild language of the world crosses over into human modes of overhearing." - Matt Syrdal
The first fish
I ever caught
would not lie down
quiet in the pail
but flailed and sucked
at the burning
amazement of the air
and died
in the slow pouring off
of rainbows. Later
I opened his body and separated
the flesh from the bones
and ate him. Now the sea
is in me: I am the fish, the fish
glitters in me; we are
risen, tangled together, certain to fall
back to the sea. Out of pain,
and pain, and more pain
we feed this feverish plot, we are nourished
by the mystery.
